Facilitation, negotiation & conflict resolution
Creating constructive dialogue is the keystone to building bridges between people and facilitation can play a critical role in achieving the goals of your group. A good facilitator should have strong rapport with the group, enough expertise in the subject matter to guide conversations and maintain neutrality even in heated moments.
Flexibility is important for a good facilitator as groups can react in unforeseen ways. I am able to adapt to alterations in group dynamics and change agendas and activities on the fly without making it chaotic or disorganized. Our experience in facilitation spans over 25 years with engagement at all levels of groups and governments. It includes working with local fisherman in Honduras to develop a co-management structure as well as facilitating transboundary water relations in Central Asia.
Of special interest is the use of Track II processes to achieve advances in highly conflictual situations. Often when formal dialogue is not possible, informal dialogue through academia or civil-society can assist in building information exchange that has traction at the formal level. |
